When you are in the menu directly after choosing which type of map you want that shows all the players participating in the match you will notice a tab that says "random." Click that tab and it will show TEC, click again it shows Advent and once more to show Vasari. Of the list of players you are the top so just click the top "random" tab, you can also do this with the other AI's. So in a sense yes, you were looking right at the solution. 
Hey don't worry about asking questions, I've had to ask plenty of questions that I felt were dumb. If you have a question just ask it, the people on this forum have done a good job of answering my questions without making me feel like an idiot so I wouldn't expect anything less from them for you.
