Windowblinds & Windows problem

My computer crashed down lately because of vista and a friend  of mine lent me Windows XP Indigo 9.1 extreme. i liked the look of this but i wanted my old skins back from when i still had vista but it seems that Windowblinds isn't compatible with Windows Indigo but i'm not sure though. it already had the program "Styler" on it but i still wanted windowblinds for a few silly reasons. Anyhew, the point is; if any of you know Windows indigo, is it Compatible with Windowblinds or do i need normal XP??

thanks in advance for any help that comes

Uhm...Windows Indigo? Did your friend happen to mention where he got that, whatever it is? Sounds fishy to me.

Sounds like he gave you some hacked up pirated version of Windows, loaded with slipstreamed junk. Might be a good idea to get your (legit) Windows disc, or restore disc that came with your machine, and reload it.

He didn't mention from where he got it but it's just a fancy version of XP. I've tested it for a week on my computer after it died (Thanks to vista ofcourse.) But it just has a nice Logon screen, The vista sidebar, Vista startup menu and a choice of Windows XP or Windows Vista theme plus it's somewhat faster than XP and faster than Vista (tested it with different programs and stuff) it's pretty nifty Windows. also if i run the "Dxdiag" thing it says that my operating system is Microsoft windows XP proffesional (5.1, build 2600) so it's really just XP.

Liked I said, a hacked up pirated version of Windows loaded up with a bunch of "addons" that do who knows what.

Is that a back thing, Mickeymowse??:\ also does that have anything to do with why Windowblinds doesn't work??8O :pout:

Yes, a pirated version of Windows is a bad thing, and it's likely why Windowblinds won't work. Because of all the junk that's loaded in with it, something is likely conflicting.

Like I said in reply #1, you might want to find your Windows/restore disc and load that back on there.

I might as well, but i really hate vista <_<   but couldn't it be Styler? because that also changes my windows theme just like windowblinds. Could that be the Conflicting program?? because i really don't want to reformat my computer again because i have lots of files i need for work :S

If you are using a pirated copy of Windows, you really aren't going to get any support here.  My suggestion would be to go out and buy a copy of Windows, and reformat your machine.

Well i got a copy of vista home edition, but one more question. Is there any way i could update my windows without losing any of my files?? (And without putting them on a CD or external harddrive)

And thanks to all of you for the help ^^

From personal experience I would never do a upgrade install with Vista.  It's better to start fresh.  Regardless, it's good to have your data backedup up anyways just in case.

I'll second that. I went down the upgrade path when vista was finally released. Got a free upgrade from my laptop manufacturer because I bought my laptop just before vista was released. Next day after upgrading, I wiped the drive and did a fresh, clean install. The upgrade created more problems than it was worth.
