New Face On The Blog Block

Keep Earth Clean, It's Not Uranus! :))

This is my first blog on this site. I hope that I get feed back on this. I know I can get a bit too serious when I write, so tell me to pipe down sometimes...:)

First Blog:

Why is it that people take advantage of a good thing? I have lived in Seattle long enough to know that it is one of the nicest places on this planet. It is clean, surrounded with scenery to die for, accompanied with the fresh aromas of the Pacific and towered by the tallest evergreens around the planet. There is exotic wildlife to be found, extreme adventures to be had such as wind surfing, mountain climbing, hiking on Mt. St. Helens, or anything else that suits your gregarious fancy. If you’re more of a mellow person, you can enjoy the great food, a quiet day out on a boat in the calm, cool waters, or delight in visiting the bustling downtown with vibrant life…

This, if you were wondering, is not a travel add for Seattle…I am trying to convey that it’s a great place, like many others, but unfortunately it is being taken advantage of and in ways being abused. This great city that I live in is being littered with substances such as plastic. Now, don’t get me wrong, plastic is biodegradable, and can be recycled, but at a very high price which most people are not willing to pay. And lets be honest, most people are lazy, even if they have good intentions. They do not take the time to recycle or reuse plastic, or anything else for that matter. I have seen first hand, places being littered, people accumulating tons of plastic bags that they don’t know what to do with so they throw them out, even if it lands up wherever.

Most plastic that the average person collects is in the form of bags, that’s a known fact, and the place you get these bags from is the various stores that one visits to cart back whatever they bought. Instead of using something that is hard to recycle, hard to get rid of, and something that you get a ton of and don’t know what to do with at the end of the month, I suggest we all pitch in for the environment, and help maintain gorgeous places such as Seattle by use cloth bags. They are a great way to avoid hazardous materials such as plastic, and can be used over and over again. Think about it. It doesn’t take much to bring back your store bought goods in a natural, Eco-friendly cotton bag and at the same time be one of those people that steps up and does their part.

You don’t have to be an environmental activist to help preserve this planet…just doing a tid-bit accomplishes wonders.
