Impulse does not install latest version of ObjectDock Plus

I just installed Impluse for the second time, thinking it wasn't working right. (Well, it still isn't!)  I tried to uninstall my previous version and install from Impulse.  Impulse claims it installed 1.91k[a].025.  About ObjectDock shows 1.90a, build 538u.  The executable has a date in 2007.

Any ideas on how to fix this???

Thanks,

Brad

I'm showing the exact same information as you are Bradmeister.  I think the about page isn't picking up the right information.  Not sure about the executable file date unless that's the last time that file was updated.

Someone from Stardock will pop in and clear it up for use.  |-)

I tried earlier today to download this same version from Impulse and obtained a similar result.  I was also having some issues with this one especially with the Start panel function leaving the desktop messy with remains of images on the desktop after the Start Panel closed.  So, I re-intalled using SDC and I now have the latest beta version available there which is 1.90 build 537u.  Seems to not have the Start Panel problem.

One thing about Impulse is since it's new and has it's own new backend servers all programs downloaded from Impulse have a 2008 date on them even if the last time they were updated was a few years ago!  You can't go by the dates in Impulse as an indication of the actual version date.

Well, before I "upgraded" the executable had a date in 2008.  I think that is when I installed it originally.  The "upgraded" version has an older date, so I think it is the actual version showing in the About box.  So, no newer than the version I had before.....

I'll try to give you what I know about this.  Stardock Central which is still being used and will be phased out in favor of Impulse shows that OD Plus version 1.90 became available in 04/2007.  The latest update available on it is 1.90i[beta].020 which is build 537.  This is an 08/2007 version release.  Since I was having troubles with OD Plus and Impulse yesterday I installed this version with Stardock Central and everything is fine again.

I realize that Impulse shows a version 1.91k[alpha].025 and it says latest update 08/05/2008.  With regard to the latest update date this may not be accurate with respect to the actual build date of OD Plus since this date indicates when it was made available on Impulse.  Eventually, given time the available date and build release dates will eventually match again.

I think whatever is on Impulse(as far as version number) it is actually OD Plus 1.90 build 538.  I could experiment further since I have Impulse working again de-install OD Plus and re-install this 1.91k[alpha].025 but, I'm not inclined to do that.  When I did have that version installed  there were a few problems with the screen being refreshed properly after accessing the start menu through OD Plus and a couple of CTD's.  So I rolled back to the most recent beta that was on SDC and the problems are gone.

As far as the main ID Plus executable having an 2008 date on it, I've not noticed one.  The most recent date I've noticed is 08/2007 for this program.

Try these things:

1. Try disabling your anti-virus. This has occasionaly been an issue for me.

2. Try right-clicking on the stardock orb in the upper left of the Impulse window. Make sure the checkbox for show pre-release versions is checked.

I am running OD+ 1.91k[alpha].025 on Vista Ultimate 64x. I have no issues with the start menu or the system tray.

In my case, both OD+ and Impulse work flawlessly.
