Hi everyone,
I'm a real noob to the game, and I can't find any good info on how to play for beginners.
I'm stuck on upgrading my flag ships, how do I use the its upgrade screen, nothing in there does anything...
Also, how should I update the default ship designs?
The initial flagship is built on a medium hull so you have to research those and design a ship you'd like to upgrade to with that hull. Then it should be available in the upgrade screen. Also note that Cargo hulls can be upgraded to Large hulled ships, but not huge ones.
To create your own ship designs, use the Shipyard (last button on the right before you get to Find and Turn).
In addition to making core decisions about engines, weapons, defenses, and special modules, you can put about as much time as you'd like into adding "jewelry" components to change how your ships look. Some folks get pretty serious about it.
