Hello out there fellow Wincustomisers just a little prayer that goes out to all of you that is any harms way from Hurricane Ike, please keep you and yours safe.

I've never been in a situation like that but I can imagine it is as scary as hell, well if it is any consolation just remember you are all in my familys thoughts and prayers, as I've said before just please keep safe.

Thanks.

We're expecting 75+ mph winds here and lots of rain.  I expect to lose some trees (or large branches) and power for a bit.

Thanks again for the good thoughts.

Been there, done that. Hurricane Hugo was the one I went through. We spent 2 weeks without power after the storm. You take for granted how dependant you are on electricity until you loose it.

If you haven't done so, get prepaired. Don't forget to make sure your pets are well taken care of also. I'm sure you have a list of suggested items that you should have so I'm not going to repeat them here.

Be careful during the aftermath. Alot of people get hurt while trimming trees because they fail to realize the pressure and tension that the tree is under and the chain saw will kick back on them. Also, if you deside to use a generator, make sure not to hook it up to your power main without disconnecting your service from the power grid. Back flow of electricity can kill.

Zub... I wish you and yours the best and I hope all goes well for you.

I read on Yahoo news Oz that Hurricaine Ike is a very large storm with strong winds and a lot of rain, so to all in its path, keep safe and I hope you all come out of it relatively unshathed.

For those community members that are in the path of Ike be safe and when time and conditions permit let the rest of use know how you are doing.  Couldn't do with any of you having major problems at all.

We've lost power 3 times so far. Didn't really expect it to come back on, since we were warned that there would be no work done on the power lines until the storm is gone. But the storm isn't here yet. I'm about an hour east of Pictoratus, so it should hit, and there in about the same time frame.

It's 4:30. Saturday.
Power is back on (along with internet). Doubt it will last long. Storm was intense but kids slept through it.

The fence between us and the neighbor on the west fell over and the guy to the east of us had a tree fall across our yard and hit our mailbox. A random CPA with a chainsaw driving around helped us cut down the tree. I figure he was an angel sent by my uncle John.

Spent day cleaning the block helping neighbors. Glad we stayed.

Will post pix later.

Thanks for the prayers.

Thank goodness you and yours are OK Zubs... looks like Ike took down a few trees, but thanfully you didn't suffer any major structural damage to your home. :)

I hope everyone else who was in Ike's path is OK, safe and well also. :)

Looks like you got lucky. With the looks of the storm, it could have been far worse.

It sure is a nasty one. Hope everyone living in those areas will come through this safe. Mother Nature is powerful.

Ja Mother Nature is damn powerful, lets just hope she feels like being a bit gentler with this one, prayers to all

Glad to hear you came out ok, Zubaz. Houston got it worse than us.

The 'eye' passed over us about 3:00PM, so we had lots of east wind earlier and then west winds as it headed to the northeast. We had approx 40mph winds with 60 mph gusts and lots of rain. No damage for us but a lot of people with power out and some with trees down on their houses and vehicles.

Koasati probably got it worse than us. He got the east and southeast side of the storm with some pretty bad squalls and gusts.

Zub, Pict...........glad to hear you made it through unharmed.

That was not fun, but other than some major tree damage, a few shingles to replace (and the roof torn off a birdhouse 8O ), we came out fine.

But geez that was some wind. It split a forked pine tree, and one side of the tree fell into another tree. The wind kept at it, and now, the two of them are resting on a larger tree. dOH! What a mess.

We're good, no one hurt. There is no power in this area with a few exceptions, and all the kids are here, since Mimi, and Poppi have a generator for fans, fridge/freezer, and TV!    We have a grill, and camping stove for cooking, so we're doing fine.

And I have the internet working (obviously) .
