Suggestion: Better playercolor on demigod

This slightly has to do with interface but is mostly gameply. I suggest that the demigods(and the minions we see in the future) have better coloration on their body so we know what player it belongs too. This will be more important in the 5v5 matches when the fighting is intense and the other team has, say, three rooks. By having distinct colors we can remember what color means what specialization, and we don't have to spend time highlighting that demigod to see the user name.

"Ok, thats the GREEN-Rook. He uses boulder-roll. I need to watch out for his roll and take advantage of his lack of (hitpoints/mana). Ok thats the RED-Rook. I need to avoid him and go after the green one."

Many say that they don't want colors plastered on their units, and thats fine. What I suggest (to avoid seeing regulus in bright shiney pink) is to be able to use the interface toggle mini flags/warbanners that fly above the units body/behind their backs. On 1v1 when this is not an issue we can toggle it back off. Stop me if theres something like this in-place.

One of the biggest problems in figuring out who you are attacking/being attacked by, is a lack of minimap. See WC3 for reference. Basically, units appear as dots while heroes appear as larger circles. Such that, you can figure out if you are just being attacked by a mass of units or a hero is in the middle of those units. Also, without a minimap, it is difficult to figure out what your allies are doing or where all of the enemies are. I suggest they either add one, or find a way to make the heroes, both enemy and ally, more easily recognizible by color.

Thats not a bad compromise there. Very bipartisan of you (!). I wouldn`t want to see the usual team colourations simply because every other rts does it that way... . I would rather distinguish between faction elements by virtue of the elements themselves, thus my suggestion elsewhere to give each Demigod their own types of the base units. Demigod has a certain laudable atmosphere that would be mitigated by team colours plastered on the units.

Korialstrazs, if you want to see what units are attacking you... take a look (!)... . Ditto to figure out where they are, as coincidentally if they are within your field of view they will certainly be... attacking you (see previous point).

I thank as far as the color goes that each player will chose a color and the demigod and there group of creeps as people on here are calling them will have that color on there armor and the flags if you own them will be your color and banner.  Each god should have there own flag come on they are God lol will Demigods.

A color scheme for each demigod might not be a bad idea; i.e., each has a specific piece of clothing (like Torchy's cape) that changes color, or maybe just the overall hue of the model changes tint.  Not to a ridculous degree, of course; a bright pink Rook running around the field would be...interesting. ^^;

Or, maybe a player can choose/upload custom colors or signs?  Like a small picture file that would be applied to the model, like a sigil pasted across the Rook's torso, or something like that.  Could be an iteresting way of customizing the play experience.

Team colors > Player colors i'd say. Since Demigod got or shall have a nice atmosphere team colors would be better imo. But nothin tooo bright.. maybe a golden shimmer for the light side, and a redish/black aura for teh bad boyz!

Right now, its very hard to determin if its an ally or not. .. But i'd like a shiny pink rook

Well thats fine if we determine friend/foe primarily through black vs. white color schemes. In this case I would like a way to tell one black enemey Rook from another without having to mouse-hover over everything.

A minimap is a step in the right direction, but as you saw in WC3 they made the dots for heroes huge so when they're right next to each other the colors merge and it makes it difficult to tell the difference. Another disadvantage is having to look down on the minimap the whole time to tell which Rook is coming at you.

Again, I suggest toggle-able flags/banners because it enhances gameplay but does not ruin the character art by awkwardly recoloring them.

I think there does need to be a better identification system as well.  Might as well be able to toggle for those who don't want it, but In higher level play I bet everybody uses it all the time.

Jebobek, the use of the minimap need just a few games of practice - we shouldnt make the game THAT easy so you can learny any tricks and the 100% effecitve usage of the UI in just a day. Else there is too less diffrence between real good players and beginners.

Banners on the other hand would be also cool, but i'd say moveable flags etc. use more RAM than a plain colorbackground or a little shimmer. Or like you said black vs. light.

Just make the one side a little bit darker. So the light side rook looks more golden + bright, while the dark side rook looks more like a ruin :> I'd like that.

I would not mind a little color shimmer or a color glow on the floor instead of the flags, as long as you can distinguish between one player and another. I'm indifferent about minimaps, you can have it if you want it.

Well, my problem comes from this, there are three torchbearers, two enemies and one ally. I'm in the middle of a battle, and I dont know where my ally is because I dont have a minimap to find him. I run back towards my base and see a torchbearer at the middle base, continuing on my way, trying to target him but not really seeing a difference when I curser over him, he turns and freezes me. Continues to launch a fireball and I die.

yeah this has been gone over in like 7 threads now..

I would surely like more "team"color on the heroes, Torchy is the only one who is noticeable.

No seriously, when I posted this, I could not find threads on optionally emphasizing player color to enhance the UI.  I'm simply giving feedback on what I saw on the current beta. I'm sorry the thread is not original enough for you to contructively post on, but could you redirect us to threads previously talking about the issue?

Theres about 7 threads on the first page of those 3 sections.

I can understand that. Thats why I`d agree with a button that while pressed displays faction symbols above units or just the Demigods themselves.
