Weather Docklet does not support all locations supported by AccuWeather.com

I have upgraded to the new object dock with the weather flyout information provided by AccuWeather.com.

I would like to retrieve the weather information for Stuttgart, Germany ; however the Docklet can not retrieve the Feed.  Other locations like Berlin,Germany and München,Germany work just fine.  But if I go directly to AccuWeather.com I can retrieve the weather for "Stuttgart, Germany"...(NOTE: the website changes it to "Stuttgart, Germany (Baden-Wurttemburg)"....but the docklet does not allow me to enter parentheses.

hello pixeleo, yeah I did...tried three different Zips (Postleitzahls[PLZ]) from in and around stuttgart with no luck.

Anyone know if Oslo,NORWAY is possible as a location? I can get other cities in Norway to work, but doing so is pretty useless right now :)

anyone from stardock have a suggestion about this?  I expect that the weather docklet may be making some mistakes passing the city names on to accuweather...but who knows?!?  Like Triplejolt wrote...pretty useless right now.

Start small.  I entered just 'oslo' in the weather gadget and the second result was in Norway.

 

Same for you jwt007.  I jsut typed in 'Stuttgart" and the third one is yours.

I have the same problem, I am in Canberra, Australia and I always get Feed not Available but can access the info on the Weather web site, so this docklet is useless for me also.

Wizop, what do you mean when you say the Second one or third one is for them, I tried to enter oslo as you did and all I get is feed not available, I don't get any other options for a first second or third search result, am I missing something?

hi again...yeah I think what zubaz is referring to is the accuweather.com website ... in any case the weather objectdock docklet does not provide you a choice...it just says feed not available.

Strange is I noticed when I was playing around with MyColors skins last night that they also have standalone weather applets that work with AccuWeather.com and there I can put in Stuttgart, Germany without a problem.  I think it is specifically this ObjectDock weather applet that has a problem.

Are you using the free or the plus?  Because the plus version takes a guess at similar locations

I use the plus and I don't get "feed not availalbe" unless my internet connection is down or accuweather is down.  I was talking about the docklet and not the accuweather site.

The free version of the weather lags behind the Plus version.  If you are using the free version you may have to wait a bit for it to be updated.

 

You might want to check your PC security to see if you are blocking a connection from OD.

hmm...

well i have the plus version...and I did deinstall the free before installing the plus...installed several times in fact.

my plus version doesn't give choices =(  sorry...thought u may have meant the website because it does give me several choices...maybe that is where is it getting screwed up?!? I don't get the choices and it can't resolve without me picking one of the choices...any more ideas on what to do there?

and if my pc was blocking a connection for OD would I still be able to get weather for Berlin, Germany?

What is your build number of OD+?

The alpha may fix you up on Impulse.

build number is 535u.  According to Impulse the installed version number is 1.90.033 last updated 08/05/2008.

Impulse says that I am up to date on my ObjectDock software...should i see a special option for an alpha download?

Click on the Orb inthe upper left and choose "show beta" (or somethign like that)

whaddya know? the beta version doesn't have the problem...just that it defaulted to stuttgart, arizona first =P ... but now I get stuttgart germany no problems...

and just for the other guys I checked both Oslo, Norway and Canberra, Australia...all working no problems with the beta.

I have a similar problem. I live in Montreal, Canada. I can get the weather for Berlin, Germany but no locations in North America. Is this because I live in Canada? Is there a workkaround or something? Thanks, skyzyk

You can input the name of the city and the province instead of the city and the country if you are in Canada, so for Montreal, try "montreal, qc".

I have a similar problem. I live in Stuttgart Germany. I can get the weather for Berlin, Germany but no Stuttgart, also in germany.

I have the version 1.90 535u, but I can't find a beta version in "Impulse"
I activated the flag for "pre release Software"
any suggestion?
