Sounds like your Hard Drive and/or IDE Controller are fried. Can you boot from CD?

Un-plug all USB devices.

Is this something that's just started happening on an old/previous configuration or have you changed anything recently that may be causing it... such as installing a new OS hard drive??

The reason I ask is because my wife's machine did a similar thing when a new IDE HDD was installed on the same ribbon as her DVD ROM and was set to 'Master'... the BOIS went as far as 'Checking IDE Drives but would not load XP, which was installed on the new drive.

Dunno why, :NOTSURE: but changing the drive to 'Slave' and DVD ROM to 'Master' resolved it and XP loaded just fine. Hopefully it's something as simple as this and not...

However, listen to yrag... he knows everything about PC's, or should I say, what he doesn't know about computers isn't worth knowing. :)
