Linksys Router Model: WRT54GS "Disconnected from Ironclad servers" when trying to make account. (satellite internet)

But that usually doesn't hurt games like these for me.

I bought this game because it had a good rating from gamespot, but when I found out it had no campaign I just said I would focus on the multiplayer... as you can see this is a problem.

I followed Monk's guide as best as I could at 11:00 P.M. with my moderate computer knowledge, and this fixed nothing...

I would be eternally great full for any advice at all.

Thanks

It is necessary to follow the steps in my guide "Networking and SINS" when you're on game version 1.05 (or less) and want to be able to HOST games.

Those steps are not necessary if you've updated to version 1.1 BETA (v1.09) via IMPULSE.

If you've disabled any software firewalls on your PC, or given SINS the proper "exceptions" then the fact that you're getting "disconnected from Ironclad Servers" most likely has to do with your connection, or a "hop" between you and IronClad (that is of course assuming their servers aren't down at the moment).

Please try running a trace from your PC to IC.

eg. (at the command-prompt type the following)

c:\tracert 38.98.152.153

(obviously the lower the response-time in ms the better)

The above command will give you an idea if there is a "bad hop" between your PC and ICO's server somewhere.

thanks,

the Monk

I guess requests timing out is bad... but, I've been able to play an RPG with this slow connection, it was just alittle delayed to other people...

Only you can confirm if it's your connection. What is the data from the "trace" I suggested you do in my first reply?

That's not going to fly for SINS. SINS is P2P and not very forgiving of latency issues between players. Since the HOST in SINS doesn't actually "host" anything, he/she just SYNC all of the players together. Each player runs the ENTIRE SIMULATION on their own PC which means the slowest player is how fast/slow things will go for everyone.

Well wait... how do you join games? Is their a server list?

Yes the "lobby" is the server-list. Unfortunately it seems less people are playing the 1.1 BETA than version 1.05 so you may have to wait in the lobby for a game.

While I was on a vacation, I only had 256kbps internet speed. This caused many errors in downloading and connecting. My suggestion is to make sure your using at least 512kbps or if you can, 1mbps. I was able to play other online fps games, but they had some lag. Impulse on the other hand, had a lot more lag, and would constantly disconnect while updating sins to the beta. I believe its a bandwidth problem, with packets being lost. Try switching to the 'new download mechanism' as that helped a lot.

Well thanks for everything... at least now I know what the problem is.
