How Can I Edit Color and Transparency Opacity For All Editable Text Fields Using Stardock SkinStudio 6.2?

Examples: Mouseover Hover & Drag Select-Rename Highlights for Directory Tree Folder-File Name Fields, Window IE Addy Go-To Field, Blah-Blah

I normally thoroughly research an issue first myself.  This one baffles me.  I cannot find in ANY of the menu fields of SkinStudio 6.2 the place where you edit the MOUSEOVER-FOLDER/FILE/SELECT-DRAG/SELECT HIGHLIGHTS for all EDITABLE TEXT FIELDS in the Windows environment.  I have researched Forum Topics, Tutorials, Blah-Blah, and can find no mention of this issue.  I am running on Windows XP SP3.  Help pls.  Ty in advance.

Case In Point:

I am customizing an elegant, incredibly clean WindowBlinds Skin called METAL VISTA.  One serious prob in its design is that all of the FOLDERNAME-FILENAME-EDITABLE TEXT FIELDS highlight colors are such a light shade of gray that they are virtually indistinguishable from the WHITE background of these EDITABLE TEXT FIELDS, so much so, most of the time you have no feedback whatsoever that a folder-file-text string has been hovered over, click-highlighted or text drag-selected.

Change skin colors, from drop down at top of window select Show me the skin defined system colors, Selected item text, or you could change the Selected item color so the text is more visible. Both will also change these colors for apps, like Firefox, with unskinned, classic style menus.

Thanks so much Cavan. Worked like a champ. The two critical SYSTEM colors to correct this problem were: SELECTED ITEM and MENU HIGHLIGHT colors. I took the gracious and simple way out, staying in grayscale, setting SELECTED ITEM color to a darker 200,200,200, and MENU HIGHLIGHT color to a lighter 250,250,250. Nice and clear on file-folder selects and file-folder-text field edits now. tyty. ur a gem. tc.

I entered a step-by-step set of instructions to pull this off at the Metal Vista 3.0 WinCustomize page here:

FIGURED WAS JUST AS EASY TO PUT THE INSTRUCTIONS HERE ALSO. JUST AS A CAUTION, WHEN YOU GET TO THE COLOR PICKER SECTIONS TO CHANGE COLORS, FIRST RECORD THE EXISTING RGB NUMBERS SO YOU CAN RECOVER TO DEFAULT IF YOU BORK THE EDIT AND IT ISN'T WHATCHU LIKE.

If you follow these instructions, problem is solved. Essentially, you go into Stardock Skin Studio and execute the following steps:

01 OPEN Metal Vista skin

02 CLICK the Edit Skin button

03 SELECT Metal Vista 3.0 Substyle from the dropdown menu

04 CLICK the Open button

05 SELECT Change Skin Colours from the menu bar at the left

06 SELECT "Show me the skin defined system colours" from the dropdown menu

07 SELECT "Selected Item" color

08 CHANGE "Selected Item" color to a darker gray with RGB settings of 200,200,200

09 SELECT "Menu Highlight" color

10 CHANGE "Menu Highlight" color to a lighter gray with RGB settings of 250,250,250

11 CLICK the Apply button

12 CLICK Yes to "Do you want to apply any skin changes?"

13 CLOSE Skin Studio. You're done.

Enjoy.
