game crashs

I have been playing( single player) for a while, and have downloaded all the patches as they have come out.  I waited to install 1.05 until now waiting for 1.1.  Broke down and installed 1.05 today and my game freezes almost immediatly, within 1 - 3 minutes of gameplay.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the game and the 1.05 patch three times  with the same results. I am running window xp.  Any help, anyone?

Are you trying to load old saves with the patch? Old mods? Does it crash with a minidump?

no nothing of the sort. just trying to play the game. which was running exceptionally until I patched it.

I'm guessing you haven't tried the 1.1 beta to see if it works? Might be worth a shot, since 1.05 support will discontinue soon with 1.1 coming up, and if it fixes your issue anyway :)

I deleted all the old saved games and was playing a new game scenario. If any one can help I would appreciate it, going back to the original game is tough once you've gotten used to the patches. thanks

The biggest bug is that if you switch around strike craft for your carriers, the old squads don't scuttle, so you get extra ships. Everything else is very minor (like getting told of an artifact without actually exploring the planet).

Unless you can provide some sort of additional info, I don't know how much more anyone can tell you. If the game doesn't give you a minidump, there's very little info to go on :( The basic suggestion would be to make sure all your drivers are fully updated, especially the graphics card. Might seem strange since earlier patches worked fine, but even small changes in code can create this kind of thing :P
