Can't Activate as there is no serial number

Bought this copy from a legit Big Box store and could not find a serial number anywhere so contacted stardock support

and they sugested quote "My apologies but if the serial number is missing on your game there isn't anything Stardock can do for you in this instance. However the serial number is part of the price of the product so I highly suggest returning to the retailer you purchased it from. All Stardock games can be installed and run without activation but you will not be eligible for updates and online play. Please let me know if you have any further questions I can help with." ]

Now I am a reasonable man but begs the question -who made this game and who is responsible for packaging and support?

Perhaps you should take their advice and bring it back to the store.

The serial number should be on a sticker on the CD case. Could you have bought a used copy?

Yeah, I'd go back to that big box store and ask them WTF is up. If they repackaged a used copy w/o the serial number, then the ball would be in their court for a refund or at least some time chasing for a serial number.
