Mod Tools Help

I'm entirely new to modding so I may just be confused...
When I try to open either ConvertData or ConvertXSI it just shows a little black window for less than a second and then it closes and appears to have done nothing else.  In the documentation it shows a program with a nice user interface for the models.  What am I missing here?

i think the nice user interface you are talking about is the xsi mod tool which is completley seperate

What Kitkun said. If you read the beginner tutorial PDF, it explains their usage (ConvertXSI converts XSI models to the Sins meshes, and ConvertData converts text .entity files to binary) and the syntax for using them.

Okay I got the XSI Mod Tools. Now when I try to import a model from 3DS Max, the window is just filled with a watermark-like text. I figured the convert programs were just command line programs and I know that the tutorials included use the XSI Mod Tools so these are some of the only issues I have right now.
