"String Not Found" in Map Name/Descriptions

Hi,

Just bought the game yesterday (after playing the demo the day before!  :D ), and noticed that in the Map/Mission Names and Description there are many entries which are displaying as "String Not Found".

I patched straight to 1.4 (don't know if I needed to apply previous patches - the patch installer didn't complain).

If there's any more info needed let me know.

:)

Are you playing the English version? I would recommend you patch to 1.05 (current version), see if it still happens. If it does, download the mod pack from the site's downloads section, and copy the english.str from that archive into your Sins install \String folder (you can overwrite the existing).

The only reason it would show "String not found" is if something is messed up with your strings file.

Yes, playing english version. I've only realised today that their was actually a 1.5 patch. It wasn't clear which patches are available from this website, so I headed over to gamespot where the most recent patch was 1.4. I'll have a look later for 1.5 and have a tinker with this english.str file - see if that cures it. :)

Thanks!

I'd recommend downloading Impulse from impulsedriven.com. It'll keep the game up to date rather painlessly, and you'll need it for patches beyond 1.05 anyways.

Okay! Found and installed 1.05 (kept missing those zeros didn't i? :q ) from gamershell before I read your reply Kitkun. Thanks for the heads up about future patches though! :)

Anyway, the missing text is now restored after installing 1.05. Not sure what happened there (possibly due to the fact that I uninstalled the demo and then installed the game without rebooting first :q ). All fixed now though!

Thanks guys!
