Crash When a Cap Ship Goes Down

I am having a strange problem... I seem to crash every time one of my capitol ships is destroyed - does anyone know what is going on or how I can fix it?

Do you get a minidump message, or the standard windows crash dialog? Also, are you using any mods, and are you running the latest version of the game?
