help please

im brand new to this site and its a very very well thought out concept and it looks fun, however after i spent 40 dollars on sins of a solar empire i was expecting to play it tonight when i came across this error. i downloaded impulse like my email said to. after i did this i created an account on here with my email so my game would register , i think that is right. i then proceded to type in my username and password into the boxes for impuse when i get this error message that says "server not responding, please check your internet connection. i would really like to get this fixed as soon as i can. thanks a lot in advance. also i am runnin vista if that helps.

I have checked our servers and they are up and running. Just to be sure please try the following:

-Click the blue Stardock logo in the upper left of the Impulse interface and select 'Preferences...'
-Click on the 'Connection' section on the left.
-Check the box that says 'Use new download mechanism'
-Close Impulse and relaunch it.

thanks for the help. however I think we are talkin about different things. I took pictures to try to help sort this out. I cant actually get past the start screen to do the fix that you suggested

You may have some extra 'security' apps running in the background. things like SpyBot, AdAware, etc. can interfer with the connection, check your system for anything like that, usually you will see icons in the SysTray, disable them or turn them off completely.

what security apps are you using?

Spybot? Adaware? etc?

that is weird. after i disabled it, it still shows error message. i also have symantec anti virus if that helps???
