Skins does not show properly in Vista

I have installed the latest release of WindowsBlinds in my Vista Ultimate System (Have tested with both my laptop and home system). I have found that allmost all skins does not show the start menu properly. Almost all skins show the right hand menu shorter than it should be... as in the following snapshots:

Desktop Snapshot 1

Desktop Snapshot 2

Desktop Snapshot 3

Is this normal? Does having a Spanish Localized version of Vista causes these problems? How could I fix this?

I think you're going to have to adjust the margins for each skin in skinstudio

Bichur,

Could you elaborate on this... I took me almost two days to "adjust" MidNight to fix this issues... I am really a complete newbie with WindowsBlinds so I do not now where to start. I ended up messing with a lot of "parameters" in skin studio just to make it look right.

This is midnight as downloades from wincustomize:

and the same sking adjusted, but it took me a lot of time to achieve this...

Is there a simple way to "adjust" the skins?

It looks as if you just need to adjust the text margins for the 'Places list' (right side) side of the start menu. You can do this by opening the skin in SKS6 go to "Edit Start menu and Taskbar" > Edit Start menu > Places List > Text (tab) and adjust the olive/yellow color.

However, it looks like in the above screenshots you adjusted the actual size of the places list. To do this you would need to increase the size of the top and bottom bars of the start menu then increase the size of the places list. You can get there using petty much the same 'go to' path listed above. All sizes for these things are found in the 'Extras' (tab) > width of part (vista).

I'm not sure there is much of an easier way to actually achieve either scenario then to go in and edit the skin in sks.

You shoud also email Stardock Support. The problem shouldn't be happening. Something is amiss. Maybe uninstall, reboot, and then reinstall WB.

Yeah NightTrain is correct, you shouldn't be having that problem in the first place. (Sometimes the simplest answer eludes one hehe) :)

Well... I am facing the very same problem with several skins... by now I have found that by doing exaclty what you described help me fix the skins. The only real problem for me is the "Edit" the image stuff since I am no skinner so my skills with photoshop are really, really limited.

Some skins with plain backgrounds are easy to adjust.. but the ones with patters are much more difficutl to deal with.

I have unistalled/installed WindowsBlinds on both systems... I tend to believe this is something related to the Windows Vista localization I have (spanish) since spanish is normally a bit wordy, so many single word items in the start menu become multi word ones in the spanish start menu.

Althounh some skins react properly by creating two-line intems, others simply overflow the image behind it (as in my previous snapshots). In the end, I do not like multi-line items in the start menu so I deciced to edit them enlarging the images and adjusting the margins as adviced.

Its a language problem , does it on french systems too.. remove any elongated entries from your right panel such as Admin Tools and it'll clear right up.

There is currently no way to have it looking good.. both ways.. on english and foriegn systems with longer filnames.

Bug basically.

I did open a support ticket to Stadock Support and although I received a response that the issue was passed to the developers... we are in October and still no news... a few updates to WB have come and go and the problem persists... I know this is a problem in my windows locale (and maybe others too) but it yields WB unusable for me... just downloaded the Haloween skin and although the animation looks amazing, having a broken start menu trashes it completely.

I hope I would hear from SD guys soon!
