TA - Mission 6 -rock and a hard place

I'm stuck on this mission. no matter what I do, the Iconians won't ally with me! who else has beaten this level? what did you do during the mission?

Also, Is there perhaps a cheat for diplomacy or something? because I've about had it.

All you can do is arrange to get as many + or ++ relation factors as possible, eliminate - or -- factors, and wait. The jump from friendly to close is a semi-random event, just kill everyone else off (Krynn optional), and spam the turn button until you get it.

Yep, it takes time and a little luck. Just kill what you can in the meantime, it will probably increase your chances because (1) you will gain strength and become a more attractive ally and (2) you help them survive which they might appreciate as well.

Don't forget to get tech / economy alliances with them if possible.
And like WIllythemailboy said, it's basically a balance of the diplomatic relations + and - factors so have a look at each of those.
