Custom name lists (Planets / Ships)

Apologies if this has been asked before, I did a search but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

I'm wondering if it's possible to create a custom name list for Planets and Ships.  I imagine a mod could be developed of course, but wouldn't all parties need that same mod?  What I'm looking for is a way to have my own name lists automatically used for online and lan co-op, without everyone needing the same mod.

Running that could well cause the game to appear like a modded version to the system, and so you probably wouldn't be able to play with other people who didn't have it.

there is probaly a list in one of the files and if you moded that it would change them but then i dont know about multiplayer.
