Can't get cheat codes to work

It says to add "cheat" to the target line in the properties of the shortcut but when I do it tells me invalid path.  command line is "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\GalCiv2\GL2Launch.exe"

I tried adding cheat after the quotes but nothing happens, I tried changing the GL2Launch to GalCiv2.exe and it says invalid path.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong..am new to changing file names

- Right Click on the normal icon, select Copy, so that you have another copy of the icon on the desktop.
- Right click on the second icon, and rename it to whatever you want it to show on the desktop that indicates to you that its the "cheat" icon
- Select the "shortcut" tab in the cheat icon. It will depend on when you installed it, the shortcut points to where it is on your disk, and the default install location changed after the initial GC2 release.

Taking the cue from your Post, paste this into the "target" box - note the space between the " and the word cheat :
"C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" cheat
you will also need to paste into the "Start In" box:
"C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\GalCiv2" including quotes

If the above doesnt work, you have the program in the latest default locations, and you should paste this in instead into the "target" box (including quotes, and the space between the last " and the word cheat):
"C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" cheat
you will also need to paste into the "Start In" box:
"C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2" including quotes

If still stuck, post again, I'll try explaining it another way.

"Target" tells the PC where to find the exe file, "Start In" tells it which directory to sit over on first opening. The path in each one refers to where it is on your disk. That location did change, and it depends where it is now, hence my showing two options. The most common mistake is to forget to put a space between the last quotes and the word cheat. If the space is missed out, the PC interprets the end as filename GalCiv2.execheat which of course doesnt exist.
