help game frezes

I just bought this game from a retail store today 6-9-08 and when i try to run the game in tutorial or regular game play it freezes up on me and wont run. I get the cinematic trailer and the opening menu from there it freezes.  What is the problem and what do i have to do to make it work so that i can play

1. Make sure the device drivers for all installed hardware in your system (particularily video and sound) are the latest.

2. Try updating your game to the latest version via IMPULSE (Stardock's new digital distribution system). You can download the installer for IMPULSE at www.impulsedriven.com

I'd also suggest making sure that there isn't a firewall program in the background asking for SINS to be allowed outbound access. Try running the game in "windowed mode" if you can't alt-tab to check.

Thanx for the advice Monk i tried the driver thing got the latest updates from the manufacturers, I even went and exchanged the game disk for another in case it was a game software issue, and i also downloaded impulse and got the game update, my game still freezes in the menu section for selecting game type or i might get as far as the beginning set up for the world or system then it freezes, like about 40 seconds of actual game time. I s there anything else besides checking for firewall or viruses, which ive also done, that i can do to get the game to run normally on my comp?

If you haven't already, run a dxdiag and email the report to [email protected] and a description of what you're experiencing. They'll know more than we do :)

What sort of system and what version of your video drivers do you have? If you're running nVidia video, the system manufacturer likely doesn't have the actual latest version (older nVidia drivers had issues like that). Best bet in that case is to check out nvidia.com, or laptopvideo2go.com if you're on a laptop.
