Black Market and AI?

Does the AI use the black market?

Sorry if this question has been asked. I tried searching for it and couldn't find it.

I have played through the game once now and beat it on normal levels (after a first try in a large map that I ended up having to surrender).

I have learned alot and think I know all the ins and outs, however, one thing still eludes me.

Does the AI use the black market? I tried putting a bunch of resources on the market for insanely low prices a couple of times but could never get a buyer. Perhaps I did it too early in the game, but I'm not sure.

Is selling on the black market only useful in multiplayer? Does the AI buy from you? Dose the AI sell to you? When someone is selling on the market do you have the choice of buying from them or buying at market values? Is there some kind of indication of who the seller is and what is thier price?

The AI does buy stuff from the black market, but it's touch and go. They only buy it when they need it, and they don't always need it. Crystal tends to sell well in the early game stages, but on big maps towards the end not so well.

I am not sure if the AI puts it up or not, but basically you always get the lowest price displayed, so you don't need to do any hunting. You can't see the seller, but whoever put it up for the lowest price is from whom you'll buy first.
