Game play speed up mod?

Halo, well i donno what anyone will thing of this, but Im thinking of creating a mod to speed up the game play, so isnted of it taking 30 minuets or so to get set up with a large fleet and start epic battles it would take only 10 min. I dont know about you but for the first 10-15 minuets i end up spending more time getting resorces rather then playing and actual fun in the game doesnt start untill you played for 30 to 60 minuets, I love the battles and intensity but waiting in between just kills it. Eather way, before I even start thinking of this any farther, what would it take to make this work. is it gonna be as simple as creating new cfg files for all the mineral rates or would it involve more hardcore programing? how pausible is this, and before i start is there a mod like this out.

P.S 7 deadly sins mod pwn.... anyway.

You know the options for changing the speeds that are already built into the game? Those values can be found in the gameplay.constants file under the gameinfo folder. Just search for buildSpeedData-Slow.

Yah and another way to do it would be to to just change build times and prices... but yah the above is better...

Thanks, would it be possible to make it as a separate mod file instead of complete in game change?

by that i mean, since the file is located in the game main instalation of the game and if affected would affect all of the game, would it be possible to make it as an mod that can be activated so it would be a simple matter of turning on and off in the mod list. instead of changing values in the file?

Ah. Should be. Make the changes, then save it into the mod directory as another mod. Should look something like Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\Mod Name\GameInfo\gameplay.constants. If that's the only file you're editing, of course.

You could just program everyone to start with this:

a dozen light attack ships
a colony ship,
a fleetyard construction facility (for capital ships)
(along with the regular shipyard you start with)...
throw in a civilian research station for fun
Maybe a repair bay, since it's your homeworld after all...

This would shave 20-30 minutes off the start of the game, and you could put your resources into doing something other than what you would do to start with...

I did something similar for the playable version of my mod (for the new race)... ...and I like it so much better, so I'll add these objects in the GalaxyScenarioDef file for all the races in my mod as a starting configuration...

Thanks kitkum that cleared up alot of my confusions on creating a mod. and helioforge, starting out is fine, but it gets annoying when you are trying to keep a fleet a live and continue battles, to build up a rebuild a fleet that was destroyed before you might end up spending 5-15 min waiting depending on resorces and etc. i just want a quiker gamewhere for example it feels more desparate when your large fleet gets it ass handed to you and istead of trying to hold of with 10 ships a planet against 20-30 you will have 20 or 30 against 50-60, wouldnt it add to the intensity. but im not sure if speeding up the time in the game will work as well as speeding up other things. like resource income and build time, etc. but it will take time to get it right. anyway now to modding =)

Careful you don't lag to death. ;p

Single player only, I think:
Oh yeah, pressing the + and - keys changes the update rate of the game. (For example, at normal speed, pressing + will double the speed of the entire game. Very useful early on. I sometimes forget it's on and play the entire game that way. :p

so far i have played nd with hard enemy i get my ass handded to me in the first 5-10 min, thats with at least him having 10-15 ships and me having 10 continualy respuling, makeing a pretty cool battle untill my captial ship gets raped and well then i die... need to try more settings with medium AI on a larger map. and yes certainly this would be single player but i will try it on lan with my friends later. I will probably realeas a v0.1 in a day or two.
