violent sleep-sex disorder

... the new sexual psychosis for the modern world

http://www.loserturdmafia.com/

From the ‘disorders one could never tolerate' department comes this little gem ...

A woman in Sydney, Australia who has been caught red-handed by her partner in the act of having sex with another man says she was asleep at the time and had no idea what she was doing.

The woman’s’ partner, (long confounded by  finding used condoms scattered around their home in the morning), was stunned to eventually discover that she was leaving the house in the early morning hours while he slept to wander the streets seeking sex with random strangers.

Apparently aware that his partner was a sleep walker, the man followed her one evening and made the gruesome discovery with his own eyes.

In her defense, the woman has stated that she has no recollection of committing any sexual acts whatsoever.

Cue the woman’s doctor, Peter Buchanan of the (Sydney) Royal Prince Alfred Hospital sleep medicine clinic, who introduces the most unheard of thing I’ve ever heard of  - ‘violent sleep sex disorder'.

Dr Buchanan states that this behaviour involves complex motor behaviour during sleep that is beyond the sufferers’ conscious awareness. "People are often stunned and overwhelmed when they're told what they've been doing" he says.

The ‘violent sleep sex’ disorder, according to the doc, is particularly damaging in that “the partners (and even) doctors of people suffering from the disorder often do not believe the acts were committed while they slept”.

“It's very stressful both for them, for their partner or for their relationship. It also promotes an intense sense of embarrassment on their part and on their partner's behalf ".

I remember hearing about such a disorder... only it was men engaging in these activities with their partners.... and their partners said it was like sleeping with a different man entirely.

i have heard of this too, historyishere. apparently men (and women) can become aggressive or even attempt rape on their partner whilst asleep. it sounds funny, but it's kinda awful too. imagine it ?. ugh !.

well spc, at least if it does the afflicted can have an excuse ready !

oh no, island gurl, you'd better be careful !. i sleep walked as a child, and my grandma told me to tie a piece of string around my big toe and attach the other end to the bedpost. if you stand up in your sleep, the 'pulling' on your toe is supposed to wake you up, but it didn't work. well, it sort of did, but only because i fell over it once i was up !

this could happen, stevendedalus !. (ok, it's unlikely, and pretty damned funny, too, but it COULD happen, right ?). imagine if you were wearing ugly underwear ! bwaaaaa haaaaa. (or worse. nothing. ew. or an 'ABBA' t-shirt. argh !).

karma, you may have to introduce guidelines for 'sleep blogging' then. but they'll need to include a dislaimer in case they lead to the next step ... sleep flaming !!!

When I was writing my retrospective post, I read a lot of my old posts and trust me... I couldn't remember writing more than a few of them, so I think I may have been asleep myself.
