Whatever happened to being greatful?

After a very long and late shift at work, I was super excited to pick up french fries at McDonalds on my way home. I had a dollar with me so I was all set to get my dollar fry.

As I exited the freeway I saw that there was a homeless guy with a sign saying, "looking for a warm meal, please help" . It was freezing and raining so I stopped to give him the dollar instead. I roll down my window and hand it to him, and do I get a thank you. NO....

I get, "Can't you spare anymore, I need more money." I tell him I am sorry that is all I have. He answers with, "Well I need more". So I just drive away...

Now all I had was a dollar, and I know for a fact he can at least get a cheeseburger or a fry with that at McDonalds (as that is what I had earmarked that dollar for)

Whatever happened to "Thank you"?

That's really sad, Janders. I don't carry a lot of cash (I'm a debit card kinda gal), so I usually don't have much to give, either. I've never had that happen to me, though. I don't think someone has to be wealthy to be greedy and money-grubbing. Money-obsessed people come in all shapes, sizes, and lifestyles. Very sad.

I rarely carry money and almost never cash , that is why I was excited to have a dollar for some fries! I feel annoyed......

I do admit that I often give money for selfish reasons because it makes me feel good about myself.... Now I just feel ripped off....

You have to wonder whether he is really going to have a meal or get something else with the money you gave to him.

Uncle of mine had perchance had a man come up to him asking him if he could have five dollars for a meal. My uncle said, "sure, I'll go with you and buy you that meal." The man walked away.

It's now an occupation to be a vagabond, a panhandler. Their character is nothing more than a gimmick. I know of at least two who make more than $100 a day. They just prefer not to go to an office, perform any labour. It's a scam.

Don't give cash to the homeless.

It encourages begging.

Anyway, this guy might not even be a real bum.  He might just dress down to get extra weekend money.

Ussually, I give food, but I figured it would be okay once in awhile.... I was wrong!

Jaysen and I will often give some fast food, or applebees to homeless people and they have ussually been VERY greatful.....

I am not handing out cash anymore, instead I will give that cash to a organization that goes to getting people off the streets...

The mood I'm in today, I'd have probably got out of the car, punched the dude in the face and said "Is that the kind of 'more' you were thinking of?"

I buy food for people, and I do so gladly.  I was in McDonalds on Christmas Eve and a guy walked in, emptied his pockets on the counter and asked what he could get for the 73 cents he was in possesion of.  When the staff said "nothing", I asked him what he would like and said i would pay for it.  I got a bear hug and more "God bless you's" than I could count.

I don't usually give money.....for all I know people are using it to buy booze or dope, and I'm not about enabling someone to indulge in their addiction.
