show desktop bug

shot desktop bug

Hello.

I recently purchased ObjectDock after trying out the free one and found out there is a bug with the window thumbnails (and buttons as well):

When you show your desktop (either by hitting Win+D or clicking the show desktop docklet), the windows DO minimize to the dock, but their thumbnails are not updated, leaving just the original small program icon in the low right, on a blank, transparent thumbnail.

Also, when you switch focus to another open window by clicking its icon from the dock, when you go back and click the previously focused window, sometime you have to click it three times until it gets it thumbnail and then the click executes its event and shows the window.

If there is a fix for these problems, I'd like to know it, otherwise, I'm waiting for a new release, or an update, or something.

Thank you very much,
Dan.

Remember (or if you never knew, "For your consideration"), show desktop is not the same as "Minimize All".  It actually opens a new window with no titlebar or controls of your wallpaper on top of all existing windows.  This sometimes conflicts with what the user expects to see.

Also, when you switch focus to another open window by clicking its icon from the dock, when you go back and click the previously focused window, sometime you have to click it three times until it gets it thumbnail and then the click executes its event and shows the window.

So I am clear on this (because I've never seen it) if you click between running apps on a dock you are having to click multiple times?

Are you using the alpha release available on Impulse?  What version/build are you running?

Thanks for the reply.

I know that "show desktop" is not the same with "minimize all", but it basically has the same functionality.
I tried all the opensource dock software before buying this. And the only dock with window minimization that actually worked was RK Launcher (I'm not sure if I'm allow to post this here). Also, when you showed the desktop, it updated the window thumbnails in the dock. That's what I was looking for in objectdock. So, as windows show in the dock as being minimized (having the small icon in the low right, I suppose they should have a thumbnail too. Right?

Thus, I consider this being a bug.

As for the clicking between apps, let me make myself more clear:

You have let's say 3 running apps in the dock. All in the front, with no thumbnail. One of them focused (just like the window I'm typing in now). If I now click any other running app, it will work perfectly, bringing it to the front and showing no thumbnail (because it's not minimized.)

BUT the actual problem doesn't happen all the time, so I don't really know how to explain it. I believe it happens only after showing the desktop, and some icons in the being in certain state(for example, I clicked them now after and before showing the desktop and - luckily or unluckily - it worked as it should).

Another thing that I noticed is (actually a windows problem - or feature - I think) when you click a non-minimized icon for minimizing it, it doesn't always minimize it, but just bring it to the back showing the next top-depth window.

I am not running any object dock update, it's just the software I bought(build 535u, as stated in "About").

Thanks for taking the time to read all this,
Dan.
