objects won't display in demo

i have just downloaded the demo to see if the game will run on my very old computer (pentium 4 2.4, 512 ram, geforce 4 mx). i can load the game and play but it wont display the ships or planets, it just has the symbols even when zoomed in. i can issue orders and everything to them and when i zoom in i can hear the engine and weapon sounds, i just cant see anything but the symbols. If someone has any ideas on what i can do it would be greatly appreciated cause this looks like an excellent game from the reviews and videos.

Geforce 4 MX cards do not meet the game's minimum requirements. They're basically just faster Geforce 2 cards, feature-wise.

There's a workaround for GalCiv2 described in reply #2 of this thread if you want to try and get textures working without buying a new video card, but I'm not sure if anyone's tried it with Sins so far. Worth a shot though if you can't upgrade.
