WB6: Black config window

Hi,

After installing WB6, I tried to access the config window, but I couldn't read much there. Except for some headings, everything was black. This is not skin dependent, it happens with all skins.

As you can see, I'm trying to use WB on a laptop with an Nvidia Go card, so the graphics drivers are ancient but there aren't any newer ones.

Here's the info.

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.1 (build 55 x86)

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC
Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

(Plug und Play-Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 32M/64M

Hey 2of3, you on Vista, (build 55 x86) is the latest XP build.

I have this happen fairly often, I put it down to my low end system and old 9200se vid card.
I have this issue with WB and IP config windows, in fact for WB config window I had to check Enable if you have corrupted titlebar buttons & text backgrounds on system info page just for WB config, had corrupted text background on it only, no other windows ever. I think it may be due to how WB and IP config windows have been coded.?

Check enable what?

I can hardly see anything in the WB config because nearly everything is black.

Additionally, WindowBlinds doesn't seem to work at all.
I tried to install a new skin by opening the .wba -- The WB icon appears in the tray and tells me to click it to apply the installed skin, but if I do click it, it just sets the basic look, the icon disappears from the tray and the skin is not in the list in the config window (the graphics in the skin list is among the few things I can see there).

Any comments from Stardock? I just subscribed to Object Desktop Ultimate for a year -- If WB doesn't work this is pointless for me and I want my money back. :-(

Btw, I'm Using Impulse, not SDCentral on WinXP -- is that intended?

Dirk looks like a bad install to me. Try uninstalling and reinstalling with your security stuff turned off. Give it a chance and if that does not work you can contact support at [email protected]. They will get it fixed for you.

Actually, I've been able to identify (and fix) the problem using Sysinternals ProcessMonitor:

Im from Germany, so I'm using a german version of Windows.
The installer installs the Skin data to ...\Profiles\All Users\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds, (using the internationalized form of profiles (which is "Dokumente und Einstellungen" in German), but not of Documents, which is "Dokumente" in German.
Manually moving the data did the trick.

StarDock, I recommend you start testing on international Windows versions. I also expect this fixed in the next build.

Dirk,  these forums are for community support and communication.  We are lucky enough that Stardock staff show up here once in a while to assist us.  You best bet for letting them know of an issue is to email [email protected].  Reference this thread to save time.
