There isn't a selection for 1920x1200 in my video options

I've got up to 1920x1080, but no higher, where can i change that??

I'm not sure why it's set this way, but the max resolution of the monitor that i have isn't on the video resolution list in SOASE. I've attempted to search through the program files to find a configuration file, and I thnk I've found it, but it's all in a language i don't understand.

I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a known solution. I've already looked through the forum and I can't find anyone else that mentioned this particular issue, so here my attempt at finding the answer to this question. I'd just hate to get burn-ins on my monitor just to play this game. Thanks.

The game offers those options passed to it by Windows/DirectX. Usually missing resolution options are a result of the drivers not reporting their capabilities accurately, or of a plain missing monitor driver.

Anyway, you can indeed set the resolution manually as you thought--the file you'll need is as follows:

Vista:
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\user.setting

XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\user.setting

Please note that some of these directories are hidden by default. To unhide them, go to Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View and set yourself to view hidden files and folders.

Yup that was it, thank a bunch. I can finally enjoy this game to it's full glory.
