Missing planet textures, HELP!

Blue 'ghosts' of planets with no texture.

Hi. I came to play my sins today when I found that all the planets have no texture. Instead they are just see through blue sillouettes of the planets. You can still see the little civilian ships flying on the surface but there are no textures on the planet. I don't know what could have caused this. Any Ideas????

any mods installed? enabled or not?
graphic settings all ok. maybe try resetting to default.
May be easiest to uninstall and reinstall at this point.
