buying the game

Greetings all,

I want to buy the game but before I start downloading I'd like to ask advise about what I should get.

Should I just buy the standard game and buy the expansions if I enjoy it or would you advise me to buy the game with all it's expansions? So basicly will the expansions add so much to the game that it will improve the general gameplay considerably?

And on a sidenote: does it run on a laptop (XP) reliably?

Thanks,

Crayno

I'd try the GC2 Gold demo first and see. If you do like it, you'll probably want the expansions, and it's ~$5 cheaper to buy them all together than it is to buy DL first, then the expansion bundle.

How it would run depends on your specs and drivers, primarily RAM and video. Again, let the demo be your guide.

Totally depends on the laptop. Laptops vary from "Fancy graphing calculator" up through "Portable Cray computer."

As a benchmark, my Dell Inspiron 1200 with a 1.3 GHz processor and a gig of RAM runs the game passably. (This particular laptop has the bare-minimum video card for the game.) It's fairly slow and choppy at the default zoom, so I mainly play zoomed out to the icon level.

I hope that this helps.
