Conflict: running game in a window

Team Fortress 2 menus...?

I apologize if this has been discussed in a previous post and I didn't look hard enough.. pointers would be appreciated.

I am running Object Desktop Core under Windows XP and I'm using WindowBlinds and ObjectDock.  I have two LCD monitors on an ATI Radeon X1950.

My issue is with a specific game: Team Fortress 2.  If I run TF2 full-screen, there's no problem.  I prefer to run it in a window for several reasons.  With all Object Desktop features "turned off", i.e. ObjectDock not running and no WindowBlinds visual theme applied, Team Fortress 2 exhbitis no unusual symptoms while running in a window.

As soon as I launch anything related to Object Desktop, be it an applied visual theme, ObjectDock or even the Object Desktop launchpad, the Team Fortress 2 window stops updating.  Note that I'm talking about the main menu interface screen of the game before gameplay starts.  I can hear the user interface "clicking" feedback as I roll my mouse over the main menu, so the game is responding, but the window isn't redrawing anymore.  Here's the kicker: while TF2 is still up and doing this, if I close everything related to Object Desktop, TF2 starts redrawing again as *soon* as they close.  Or, if I have, say, Object Desktop Launchpad on monitor 1, where TF2 is, and I move ODL to monitor 2, TF2 suddenly starts redrawing again as soon as ODL crosses over to the other monitor.

I have suspicions that the transparency effect is causing this behavior.  Is this a known conflict when using transparency effects on WinXP and is there a workaround?

Thanks in advance.
