Let's figure this out already

Opening ports

Ok, i've been playing for about... hmmm... 5 day's and i'm SICK of this online thing. it would be so awesome of more than 2 people could host. can someone PLEASE set up a post making it OBVIOUS how to open your port/host game/do anything online.

it would be great if someone could because I KNOW for sure i'm not the only one sick of this.... i mean... come on. STARCRAFT had it simpler. you Downloaded the map if you didnt have it when you joined the game(refering to the map sharing thing) and when you hosted a game, you didnt have to search around on the internet for hours trying to figure out what random swich you have flip open.

Again, reading before posting usually yields favourable results. :)

The guide I wrote Feb14th/08 "Networking and SINS" (which is linked-to from my sticky in the Technical forum OR the very bottom of the Technical FAQ) has everything you need.

Follow it step-by-step and you won't have any more issues...

Noobo is kinda right. I can't begin to describe the many accounts of me having to close the game and login all over again cause someone didn't forward their ports and froze my game when i tried to join. Then later they complain about no one joining their game and its all simply because they didn't read the damn manual that came with the game and the warning sign that pops up the first time you make a game saying your ports needed to be forwarded. I suggest a bulletin board or some news reel in ICO so that players know whats going on and what to do to play.

This game's saving grace is that the game itself is pretty good which encourages people to be patient. If you're patient, eventually a game will form and fill up. I suggest looking for other things to do while you wait. How about some Internet surfing or IRC chatting while waiting for the game to fill? (I always play in Windowed mode so I can go back and forth easily.)

Additionally, the 1.1 patch will introduce a new (optional) net code that will tunnel past routers for people who can't or don't want to fiddle with router settings.

I've had the game since it came out, but never played Multi. Since 1.05, I've had 3 1x1 games through Ironclad. No problems and my opps were really great people.
