Installation issue with "Activate.lng"

Hey everybody. So I've been trying to install Sins of a Solar Empire, and I keep getting the following error during installation:
"Error
Error reading from file E:\data\OFFLINE\E8A1B781\C430389C\Activate.lng. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
(buttons "Retry" and "Cancel")
Going through Windows, I can access other files in the data folder, but not Activate.lng. I know that the disc isn't scratched because I can open Activate.lng on my Mac, but something weird is clearly going on. Is there a workaround for making that file unnecessary? I have my serial number handy if that's useful.
I've read a couple posts on other sites by people who had the same issue. One guy tried contacting support over email, but their only suggestion was to "uninstall and reinstall." I'm hoping someone on here can do better.
