Error says Dark Avatar needs to be updated but....

Whenever I start TA it gives me a message that says "Gal Civ 2: Dark Avatar needs to be updated to version 1.80c.096 or higher in order Twilight of the Arnor", then the game proceeds to run anyway. When I start Stardock Central it tells met hat DA needs to be updated, but when I tell it to go ahead and do it, the installation fails. When I skip that screen then go into the "My Games" list and attempt to update DA that way, it just takes me to this www.galciv2.com when I press the Update button.
While I can still play TA, the message popping up every time is annoying and there are a few graphical bugs in the game that may be related to DA not being up to date. Is there someway to manually update DA?
