THE GAME
TC:E, Truecombat Elite, TCElite is a modern world total conversion modification of the free, popular, stand-alone FPS (first-person shooter) Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. Meaning, Truecombat Elite is an entirely free game, made by gamers, for gamers.

TC:E is currently being developed by GrooveSix Studios and TeamTerminator. While TeamTerminator is known for the famous Q3 based TrueCombat series, GrooveSix Studios was initiated by retired TeamTerminator co-founder Coroner to develop a Return to Castle Wolfenstein modification that is not released. Thus, as very experienced Quake3 based content creators, we hope to be able to serve the gaming community with a quality offering.
Now, the most important question: "What can you expect from TC:E?" TCE is a tactical-team shooter, set up in a modern-world environment. TC:E puts you into the role of elite mercenary soldier in the conflicts of two internationally operating forces.

SpecOps vs. Terrors The Global Intervention Force (GIF626) is a special force formed of the top of the world experts joining from US Delta force, UK SAS, German KSK and GSG9, to mention a few. An international mercenary organization known as "The Unit" is their opponent. It is reported that some of these dudes are were once with the above forces, but the lure of money is strong. You say "Yet another terror counter-terrorism shooter. Why the hell should I go for it?". We say "Cause you don't have to spend a cent and it features:"

Uhh... Assuming this isn't spam to begin with and will be closed/deleted for being offtopic:

TC:E blows, and this comes from someone who played ET since it came out and beta tested the original RtCW online multiplay (I remember when Beach was the only map :SURPRISED: ). I like the realism and the guns are very nice, but I can't stand how the game is scored by plus-minus. Terrible idea. All people ever do in TC:E is camp.

So if you like games where you can't walk around a corner without getting picked off by 25 campers, TC:E is for you. It's fun as hell when you get into actual combat, but on most maps that doesn't happen very often. It's basically like ET without all the good parts (classes, objectives) with a healthy does of Rainbow Six mixed in. If the game has been updated since I last played (probably over a year ago) I'll gladly retract a lot of this but after playing for a while it seemed to me like TC:E was something of an abandoned project and it was about as "refined" as it was going to be. I can't decide if the game's biggest failing is the maps (Seriously, some of them are terrible) or its scoring mechanism, but both are definately sub-par for any shooter.

Actually I take the Objective complaint back--there are objective servers but I could never figure out how they worked. I don't think I ever played an objective match that lasted longer than 60-90 seconds, so I never really got the hang of them. I remember one objective map on a boat of some variety, but the game was usually over by the time I could get to the objective room.
