Demo won't start

After installing the demo I start it. The screen turns black and after about 8 sec. switches back to desktop, with exe still running. So I task back in and after another 5 sec. desktop again. and again and again...
I think the videos won't show up correctly, but I don't use WinDVD, pls help

Please send me your debug.err file. It'll be in the same folder as the galciv executable. I'll also need to know your system information: what version of windows, video card, sound card, directx version, and whether or not you have the most updated drivers for your sound and video cards.

Hi, I have also gotten as far as the screen that shows the demo limitations, but then I get thrown back to the desktop. DirectX 9a, nVidia detonator 43.45, P4 2.66 on MSI MS-6701 (SIS 648 chipset), AC97 sound, Geforce 4 Ti4200 x8 agp, Vibrant TFT 17 @ 1240x1024 @ 75Mhz, 768MB DDR ram, Seagate in UDMA 5 mode ... etc. All latest drivers. (:(
I've mailed the debug.err file to you; hope you can make something of it. Thanks for checking anyway.

If anyone else has this problem, please run this link which will repair your mp3 codecs if they have been corrupted by other programs:

http://www.stardock.com/files/ms_mp3codec.exe

If that still doesn't work, you can run dxdiag, save the report, and send that to me. Same link as above.

maybe the codec fix might help, I also had problems with MS-mp3 codec when encoding videos.

But I can't test it till monday
