With the DRM that Mass Effect is using, I too would say your summer will be shot.

I would advise to blow off ME and buy another StarDock Title. Support developers that treat their users with respect, not like EA and BW are doing with Mass Effect.

No they're not. All they did was remove the recurring 10-day phone home authentication. This has fooled a lot of people into thinking they removed the DRM and that EA/BW have done a great favor to the gaming community.

In reality, they're still using SecuROM, you still have to activate your game on-line (and you can only DL patches and new content if your game is authenticated on-line first), you only get 3 activations before you have to call EA support, and no one from EA/BW has been able to give any details on how much you can upgrade your computer before it triggers a new activation. BioShock anyone?

*edit* Oh yeah, and no revoke tool with ME either.

So make no mistake: the DRM is still in ME and anyone that thinks EA/BW did fans a favor when they pulled the recurring authentications is fooling themselves.

I don't have the technical expertise to be able to do so. However, even if I did it would mean I'd have to buy a copy and quite frankly, I'm not willing to give money to EA/BioWare and give tacit support to this type of DRM. So, no money from me, and I guess I won't be playing the game. Too bad, but there are lots of other games out there.
