Will DeskScapes work on my computer?

I am running ObjectDock Plus and would like to purchase DeskScapes and I have a question.

Will DeskScapes run on my machine?  I don’t know if I have a MPEG-2 Video Decoder or how to find out if I have one.  Also, I do know I have a 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 PRO thingy and don’t know if that will work.  I don’t know if I have DirectX 9 and I don’t know if I have this thing… Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.

As you can tell this is all very confusing and I am not very good with computers.

I have Vista Home Premium and I do not have Service Pack 1… yet.

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Jill

Vista home premium comes with MPEG2 support built in. Also, you can download the latest update of directx 9 from microsoft but I doubt you'll need to.

Why don't you download the DreamScapes preview and see how it runs? That way you can try before you buy it.

Jill1, I'm running them on Vista home basic with a very lame video card "thingy" and you will have DX10 most likely (better than 9) so you should have no trouble running Deskscapes.Enjoy! Btw, be sure to check out Carguy1's dreams in the gallery, they're quite good. :D

I sincerely thank you both.. CarGuy1 I have a question....

If I download the DreamScapes preview and decide to purchase DreamScapes... do I uninstall the preview or do I just install the paid version over the preview version.

Again thank you both very much...

I can answer that for you. The preview will only play the dreams it comes with. You'll need to un-install it before you install the paid version. :D

I have found that it is best to uninstall the preview before installing the full version.

It's considering the dream that your running and how it was made.

The dynamic dreams take the least amount of resourses since the video card does most of the work.
For the most part, Stardock is the only ones that are making dynamic dreams since the SDK for them has yet to be released to the public.

The other type of dreams are video based and there are two types of these. If they are created with a mpeg video, they will take less resourses than one created with wmv video. Also, things like frame rate, bit rate and resolution of the mpeg will change the amount of resourses that are used. Due to this, most of the ones I have seen are made with mpegs. Personally, all of mine are mpeg files.

Or in other words, usually much less than watching a video with Windows Media Player11.You'll be able to do other things while they run,np. ;) CarGuy1's and similar types run with very, very little cpu use.
