Not starting

I just got the game and when ever I click on the button that says "Start Game" it disapears, stops working and im stuck looking at my wallpaper and desktop. Can somebody please tell me why that might be happening and what i may be able to do to fix it?

Is there any error message? Can you try browsing to the game's location in explorer and running Sins of a Solar Empire.exe directly?
