poly limit for sins?

I tried to throw in a super detailed sketchup model with upwards of 30000 polys and it minidumped on me when i tried to start my game. Is there a poly limit?

IIRC, Kol's around 12000, so 30,000 might be a bit much.

Wait..12000? What are you saying now?. Kol`s poly count is exactly 4021 meshes not 12000 and other capships have similar counts.

I doubt there's a poly limit. Try cutting parts off the ship to see if it works at lower counts.
If it doesn't, than you probably did something wrong when importing.

12000, hahah
I WISH!
ya, Depends on the model really man. If you have a lot of them on screen, so say it's a frig, I'd personally keep it around 1500.

There is poly limit, We tested it before long ago. I just don't remember the number off hand.

The Kol is seriously 12,000? That's twice what I would have expected and sounds wrong. Personally, I've been aiming for 4,000 to 6,000 triangles depending on the size and detail of the ship (obviously capital ships will have more detail than frigates). Something like 30,000 really needs optimization and trimming down. That sounds way too high when you take into consideration performance implications. You want your ship to be playable in game, right?

I won't say what I'm working on...but it's something big and fun.

Highest poly mesh imported to date to my knowledge is 45,000  ;p really need to strip that sucka down a bit but I had 5 in game and no problems.
