Weekly Poll: Non-Windows OSes

Come on, you know you do it...

https://www.wincustomize.com/webpoll.aspx

Sure we're a Windows customization site, and Windows users are roughly 99.99% of our daily traffic, but I sometimes wonder what alternative OS choices you all make.  Do you dabble in a bit of Linux on the side?  Does your spouse/roommate/friend have a Mac that you find yourself using from time to time?  Do you have a dusty Solaris workstation in the corner you run a file server on sitting in the closet?

So, in addition to Windows, what else do you use?

Well, I voted. Unfortunately, there are not enough choices... you should have options for those of us using more than one of your listed choices (via VMware I use multiple Microsoft, multiple Linux-based, multiple *nix-based, Solaris, and OSX OS's). With the current poll, I could only select one, though. :-(

Looking for the "main" alternative.

We use Linux on some of our HomeTheaterPC's easier to configure! Not so full of security issues! Been working on the skinning the gui but I miss SKS for that direct edit is so much more time consuming! BTW...You got me on April 1st :p

Uh oh... is this going to turn that April Fool's joke into a reality? Well, I do use Linux on rare occasions. I recently took a long time to install and set up a dual-boot system, but now my Linux hard disk is basically just collecting dust... but I voted Linux since I do use it a little bit (though I'm still not able to vote on polls for some reason, which I made a forum post about but didn't get fixed...).

I love the "Windows is obviously my first choice" additude to this poll. Couldn't be further from the true. Window's is forced upon me by my work. And while it is I often use this site. But at home, thankfully I get to use a real computer. Maybe the poll should be "Which os do you prefer?", or "Have you even bothered to try another OS?"

I have a home server running Linux that I use for a file server, backups and some development. I have been dual booting my main system since about '99 (on and off).

I sometimes get out my old - as in old - ATARI 1040 STE !! I had the memory upgraded to 4 mb so I could run a Music Production Program called "C-Lab Notator" ... I remember all my friends were in awe at it's speed !! ( but I usually bring it out,now if I want to play a retro game, such as Jet Boot Jack or Chucky Egg !! )

Nope, it has nothing to do with the joke.  I'm just curious so I thought I'd ask.

This is a Windows site.

the only reason I'm a windows only voter, is because I've never used another os other than dos.

The biggest thing that held me back from Linux was customizability (is that a word? Oh well.), but I recently found you can customize Linux! So I'm now running dual boot. If I find enough software to duplicate various Windoz(R) apps, we may end up using Windows for solely for games. To quote George Costanza's father, "Security Now!", actually it's "Serenity Now", but Linux they'd both apply. :HOT: p.s. When are the new smiles gonna be available?
