"Independent" fighters

    Anyone try making the carrier transparent but still show an icon when zoomed out? This way even when the fighters went "into" the carriers they would just look like they were in formation wouldnt they?

You sure they would disappear? Im pretty sure you can still see them in the hanger defenses.

I don't think they actually go into the hangar defenses. I think they just take a position alongside it.

you could make a frigate with the fighter mesh. i did this for a Recon drone i made in a private mod of mine (still in the works). but there is still some limitations to how they function if you do this, ie, they dont have trails. thats one way if you just want the fighter look. they can also jump like this.


Edit: unless you meant just the fighter/bomber squadron itself, and not a single fighter/bomber.

Hang on is there a docking animation or something? Then you could trigger a small phase portal to show them "phasing out" of the system.
