Issue with DeskScape

Hey,
I've been having this issue with DeskScape for a while now. I've tried solving it on my own to no avail. Recently, I upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate, after using DeskScapes 2.00 preview.

I decided to download the 1.02 version of DeskScape, that is exclusive to Ultimate, however, none of the .dream files I downloaded seem to work. Nor do the ones that came from the installation of it. It keeps giving me the message to upgrade and buy DeskScape.

So, I deinstalled, rebooted the computer, download and installed the 2.00 Preview. The dream files that came with that work, and not the ones that I previosly downloaded, understandably.

I am wondering, though, why is it, that 1.02 doesn't work with ANY dream files? I would like to use some of the other dream files that I have downloaded from the internet, and I hope I haven't wasted my time downloading.

Do I need to purchase the full program from somewhere and if so, where?

There are a few other threads out there on this one but here is general solution. Update your codecs.

This means you still have the preview installed or at least remnants of it.
I suggest the following...

Uninstall deskscapes, both versions.
After uninstalling deskscapes, manually delete the "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Deskscapes" directory and the "C:\Program Files\stardock\object desktop\deskscapes" directory if the uninstall process didn't delete them.
Reboot.
Install deskscapes 1.02
Reboot.
It should work at this point

Thanks guys for the quick answers. So, here's what I did.
I first, uninstalled DeskScape, deleted both existing folders, but here I took an extra step to be sure that nothing would go wrong. I went into the registry and deleted the DeskScapes entry. I noticed it mentioned version 2.0 .

After that, I reboot, installed 1.02, and now it works like a charm.

CarGuy had it nailed then. Hats off.

The trial version of the software will only run the dreams that come with it. Since the current version of the software does NOT update the trial then the two were trying to run at the same time.
