display driver error

for some reason i my game freezes up and when i alt+tab i get this error message. i run the game smoothly at full settings idk whats wrong.

It's an Nvidia driver bug. Download their latest beta driver release (174.xx), and it should fix it. Has for most folks at least.

I know it's been a bit since this was replied to, but since I didn't think that starting a new thread for this would be warranted, I post here.

I've been having the same problem, and I've noticed that the 174.xx drivers don't list nVidia 7xxx series chipsets as being supported. I'm currently running the latest 169.xx driver set for my 7900GS and I get this problem repeatedly. Would installing 174.xx drivers be advised?

The 174.xx drivers are currently in beta testing, but I've found them to be more stable than the WHQL version from December(not just with SoaSE either). Here's a link to the XP version: WWW Link

Oh and the 7xxx chipsets are supported, so that should be no problem.

Ah. Thanks. I didn't see anything except the 8- and 9-series chips on the 'supported hardware' list and didn't really want to bork my system up. Downloading the Vista 32 driver now, let's hope it makes a difference.
