Is it possible to turn a light frigate into a carrier without editing meshes ?

Hello,

I'm trying to create a mod and I would like to have more than 1 carrier type per race. I tried to edit a light frigate to make a carrier out of it (remove weapon and add squadrons informations).

I ended up with an error message telling me something is missing in the light frigate mesh. I heard that there's a fighter bay on carrier meshes.

Is it possible to turn a frigate into a carrier without editing the meshes ? And secondary question: what frigate/cruiser meshes have a fighter bay (except carriers) ?

What you should probably do is add a dummy point onto the mesh where you want the fighter bay to appear and name the dummy point 'Hanger'.

See what that does.

I have not played with meshes yet, can this dummy point be added without exporting the mesh to 3ds ?

Sure, if you really really know your coordinates or have an existing point to base it on.

It won't look good, but it'll work.

I could replace the gun hardpoints by a hangar...

Do you have any clue on how it could be done (informative post, tutorial...) ?

I still have one more question: since I'm at work I cannot look into my Sins files, so could you tell me in whitch file these hardpoints are listed an named... in data, models ?

Its in the mesh itself, you can edit the 1.04 mesh data with a text editor as its not in the binary format.
