im asking because i downloaded a few mods for sins but i cant figure out how to work them i downloaded the galaxy forge this thing that adds new planet types and this thing that lets me place artifacts how do i use them? my main question is how do i use the galaxy forge. But i also might have done something wrong with the downloading i have winzip, do i save it to the disk or just open it? is there something special i have to do? I clicked open with winzip instead of save to disk could that be the problem?

Using mods has nothing to do with the galaxy forge.

When you are in the game, go to the option. There you'll see a submenu called Mods. Go there. There you can show the path where you have to copy to mods to. You can also enable mods there.

As for GalaxyForge, it is a natural executable. You don't even need Sins on the computer to open it. Just unzip it to your hard drive and open the .exe in the folder.

The only difficulties I see, though, are with the .exe itself. GalaxyForge is unable to place a name for your map on its own, for one. And my GF saves the maps with versionnumber 0, so I can't just make and play. I have to edit this by hand, but when I do, the map becomes "corrupt" and GF can't read it. (Be sure you're done or make a copy of your map before editing by Notepad...)

First off, you need to unzip it to the right place. That would be the following,

C:/Documents and Settings/Your Name/Local Settings/Application Data/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Mods

The mod will be in the game and you can load the Mod from the Game Menu.

yeah it definately sounds like your game isn't updated at all
