What is Minidump and why does it keep crashing my game.

My copy of Sins of a Solar Empire has been working great when I got it. Now today when it was starting up I got a messege box saying somthing about a minidump and when I clicked OK my game crashed. What happend and what can I do to fix this?


             Okay now I know that a Minidump is a crash log. So now, how do I stop it?

Minidump is NOT what is crashing your game. Minidump is a crash log. In other words, it documents when the crash occurred and what it's cause was. It is by no means causing the crashes.

It could be a number of reasons... Does it crash on start-up? Or later on in the game? It could be possible that you do not have the proper specs on you computer for Sins to run. If you do have the proper specs, then email Ironclad and ask them whats up.

A "mini-dump" (ie. illegal operation) can happen for any number of reasons, bad latency, bad hardware/software, drivers, etc.

Send the minidump to [email protected] with your cd key and description of how it occurs and we'll fix it up for you.

Also if it just started think what changes you have made if any.any software or hardware changes? If not may be a MS update, try rolling back to when your system worked(system restore within windows);}

Ok, I recieved mini dump and found it was sins.exe that caused the issue.
Duh! you are saying, but(at least with my particular dump)that bit of information rules out server(iron clad)as the cause. Total app error...

I have found that mini-dumps occur much more often the more you frequently you load a saved game. If you keep loading your game from a saved point, you will get a mini-dump.
