Not sure if the patch took...

Hi guys , I am somewhat new to this game, and I have been looking over the change log, hoping to find some definite evidence that 1.04 installed properly, problem is, that there really isnt any.  I'm not really into multi-player yet, so I cant judge by those changes, and alot of the other changes(speed, cost, etc) seem vauge and hard to pin-point ingame.

The reason, I'm worried is that the AI still seems to be acting funny (alot of retreating, sometimes endlessly back and forth between two of my occupied planets) and the description for backstab in the map section reads: "string not found"

Is there any way some of this boards vets could provide me with a easy and definitive way to check to see if the changes stated in the log actually did occur(perhaps the current prices of certain ships)?

A couple of little things to see if the patch has taken or not that worked for me. First check the black market, if the sell price ever goes below 200, it hasn't worked. Second, check the Advent military research tree under the laser research, check the ships listed that are affected by the research, if Defense Vessels are listed, the patch has worked properly, if they're not listed then the patch hasn't taken properly.

That's how I found out mine was wonky anyway.

Does the number at the bottom corner of the main menu say 1.04?

Not neccesarily, I have read some other posts on this forum stating that although the version # changed, the patch wasnt actually effective: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307729

In any case, the defense vessel is listed in the laser tech tree, so that seems like good news  :)

Mine said it was 1.04 on the main menu when it hadn't updated properly and had the same black market from 1.03 and that tech tree description problem. It still played without any kind of error and I was only made aware that I might have an incomplete update when I read other people on the forum had such issues and I decided to check to make sure everything was updated, which it wasn't as it turns out.

edit: Sylenall that's good :) I'd say you're probably alright then, obviously that's just one indicator of the patch working but when mine went pear-shaped that was the first thing I noticed which gave me a clue something had gone wonky with the update.

Still I am curious about this backstab(medium size maps) thing, does anybody else's description read: "string not found" or is it just me?

I get 'string not found' and so does my friend who plays as well so I think that's just a glitch... I think anyways (either that or all our games have blown up somehow :) )
